What is move for Mind?
Move for Mind is an exciting exercise and fundraising challenge to raise money for better mental health. It’s 30 days, your way – whether it’s daily virtual workouts, running 30 miles or cycling 300k over 30 days. You can choose how you’ll get active to fundraise for everyone experiencing a mental health problem.
What challenge/activity can I do?
Move for Mind is about setting your own challenge over 30 days. Try to pick something that will push you to keep fundraising every day. If you are looking for ideas why not try:
- Run 30 miles in 30 days
- Cycle 300 miles in 30 days
- Do a workout class every day for 30 days – mix it up with dance classes, yoga, HITT sessions – there are lots for free on YouTube.
- Get to know your neighbourhood by walking a different route each day for 30 days.
- Fill a jar with 30 exercises, pick one out each day to try. You could ask people to sponsor you to put an exercise idea in the jar.
We have lots of information about choosing an activity that works for you, just click here!
What day does it start on?
Move for Mind starts on the 1 January 2021 and you are welcome to start your challenge anytime during January. Don’t worry if you start at the end of January, you can continue your activity right through to the end of February.
Can I register for my challenge to start after the end of January?
Registration for Move for Mind will close on the 31 January. This will be the final date in which you can begin your challenge, but don’t worry if you start at the end of January, you can continue your activity right through to the end of February.
Can I take part as a team?
Yes! You're more than welcome to take part with friends or family. When setting-up your Justgiving page, you will have the option to create an individual page or a team page. If you decide to share your individual page with a team member, you will need to contact us on firstname.lastname@example.org to organise additional t-shirts once you’ve reached £50 fundraising per person.
Can I fundraise offline?
Due to Coronavirus, We recommend that you only fundraise through virtual platforms and in this instance your Justgiving page.
I'm having problems setting up my JustGiving page
Please contact the JustGiving helpdesk here who will be able to advise you on any issues with your page.
How do I remain safe during the challenge in Coronavirus?
It is important that you stay up to date and follow the UK Government guidance, including from devolved nations of Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland when undergoing your challenge. Restrictions and advice are likely to change over a period of time so in order to ensure you are remaining safe for yourself and other people we advice that you keep up-to-date with announcements and apply any new requirements and limitations to your fundraising.
Please consider carefully whether you wish to take on the challenge if you may be in vulnerable circumstances or be at higher risk from Coronavirus. Your safety is the most important thing to us, and we do not want anybody to put themselves at risk through fundraising.
Can I fundraise for a local Mind?
As this is the first year of Move for Mind we are currently focusing on offering this as a product to support the work of National Mind, but if you would like to raise money for your local Mind, you can pay in your fundraising to them either by setting up a page for your local Mind via their website. Unfortunately if you do fundraise for your local Mind we will not be able to offer you a top or medal when you hit your fundraising targets due to the costs involved.
As we grow Move for Mind we hope to be able include more ways for people to support their local Mind while taking on the challenge!
Where is my tshirt?
Once you have raised your first £50 we will send out your exclusive Move for Mind t-shirt. If it has been more than a week since you reached £50, please email email@example.com. Please note that if you are sharing your individual page with another person or group, you will need to contact us once you have reached £50 per person on your shared page to arrange for additional t-shirts to be sent to your team members.
Where is my medal?
Congratulations on raising £150! We will start sending out the exclusive Move for Mind medals from the end of January. If you raised more than £150 by the end of January and have not received your medal by 19th February, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org
